THE PROTOCOL:

3 – A single color to be poured (Blue),
4 – The obligation to name the artwork at the end of the day in a foreign language.
FIRST CYCLE: « I AM HERE »
Facing the void of a studio repainted in white to isolate myself, fifty-four identical square fragments (29 × 29 cm) deploy to fill the surface of my largest wall. The single color poured over my first gestures acts as a mechanical constraint: it pushes the fat matter, freezes, and binds the whole together.
En amont, anticiper le volume final de cette production journalière impose la recherche d’un système de classification. En m’appuyant sur les tables de mortalité de l’époque, j’initie le décompte mathématique de mes jours restants.
Against this countdown, I confront a naive memory from my adolescence: the musical consonance of a sung foreign language. Uttering the title in English concludes the inhabitation of the square.
12410 – « Death dresses up as a frog » – The first fragment of the Carte – Blue series.
